DaShawn Davis, a 20-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in an event that has left his community searching for answers. Just eight days after celebrating his 20th birthday, Davis was found by police officers who were responding to reports of gunfire at approximately 8:25 p.m. in the parking lot located at 3340 N. Kelley Ave.
He had been struck by gunfire and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family members remember DaShawn as a loving and hardworking man who was dedicated to his two-year-old daughter. His loved ones describe him as a family man who loved hard and was getting his life on the right track for his child. According to his family, on the night he was killed, Davis had gone to a store to simply get soft drinks and was riding his bike back to his grandmother's house when the shooting occurred. The senseless act of violence cut short a young life full of promise and left a daughter to grow up without her father.
The investigation into DaShawn Davis's death was opened by the Oklahoma City Police Department and is considered the 65th homicide of 2024. Despite their investigative efforts, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the shooting. In an effort to generate new leads, authorities have released surveillance footage showing an individual on a scooter who was in the area around the time of the incident and may be linked to the case.
