In the southeast corner of Oklahoma City, a life was tragically cut short on the evening of November 15, 2025. Ralead Juan Rex-Dean, a 21-year-old Black male, was fatally shot during what authorities believe was a robbery attempt. The incident unfolded around 5:30 p.m. near Southeast 57th Street and Bodine Drive, shattering the calm of a Saturday afternoon. First responders arrived at the scene to find Rex-Dean with gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to OU Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the death of Ralead Rex-Dean quickly led police to a suspect. Later that same evening, authorities located and apprehended 18-year-old Christopher Upchurch at a residence in southeast Oklahoma City. Upchurch was taken into custody without incident and subsequently booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center. He faces serious charges, including first-degree murder and possession of a firearm after a previous conviction.
The killing of Ralead Rex-Dean marked the 61st homicide in Oklahoma City for the year 2025.
