In a tragic turn of events on a Sunday evening in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a 47-year-old man, Jermaine Wherry, lost his life in a fatal shooting. The incident, which took place on April 28, 2024, unfolded outside a laundromat near 61st and Peoria.
That night, around 11:00 p.m., Wherry was reportedly getting into a vehicle when he was shot in the chest. Despite being rushed to OSU Medical Center by another individual, he succumbed to his injuries.
The person who transported him provided crucial information to the authorities that would quickly advance the investigation into his death.
Following the leads provided, Tulsa Police detectives were able to identify a suspect in the shooting. Their investigation led to the arrest of 45-year-old Phillip Wright. It was reported that Wright and Wherry were acquainted with each other, suggesting a possible motive behind the violent act. He was a husband of 23 years, a father to three children, and a grandfather to six. On the day of his death, he had visited his mother, and his last words to her were, 'Mama, you alright. Love you.'
