His caretaker, Rose Marie Turpin, made the grim discovery.
She had spoken with him on the phone the previous evening and he had seemed to be in good spirits. He was found on the floor of his living room at his residence located at 2440 E. 5th Place. The scene suggested a violent struggle had taken place.
Investigators determined that Barnosky had been strangled. The apparent motive for the murder was robbery, as his wallet, money, and checkbook were all missing from the home. Despite the investigation, no arrests have ever been made in connection with his death, and the case remains an unsolved homicide.
