In a tragic turn of events on May 25, 2022, Bryonny 'Bry' Wilson, a 42-year-old White/Caucasian woman, was killed in her Lexington, Kentucky home. A graduate of Henry Clay High School, Bryonny had dedicated nearly 17 years of her career to the Lexington Public Library, where she was a respected cataloging specialist responsible for all children's books.
She was known for her artistic talents, often creating signs and displays for the library.
On that fateful day, Bryonny, along with her 65-year-old mother, Lisa Wilson, and her 38-year-old sister, Bronwyn Wilson, were found deceased from gunshot wounds inside their Caywood Drive residence. The quiet neighborhood was shattered by the crime, which was soon discovered to be a devastating act of domestic violence.
The suspect in the triple homicide was identified as 64-year-old Steven Wilson, Bryonny's father and Lisa's husband. Shortly after the shootings, Steven Wilson was apprehended by the Lexington Police Department. In a chilling confession, he reportedly posted on social media, 'Okay, so all my friends…. I have just shot and killed my wife and two daughters with a pistol.'. He was promptly arrested and charged with three counts of murder-domestic violence and lodged at the Fayette County Detention Center.
The motive for the horrific act, as Steven Wilson later explained, was a fear of financial collapse following his wife's impending retirement. He expressed to the court that he felt the best solution was to 'kill us all'. In June 2023, Steven Wilson pleaded guilty to the three counts of murder and was sentenced to a total of 70 years in prison. The case left the Lexington community in mourning and served as a grim reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence.
