Ian Cole Fox was a 28-year-old husband and father from Winchester, Kentucky, who was known for his love of family and sports. Born in Parsons, Kansas, on December 2, 1994, Ian was an avid fan of Kansas State basketball and the Denver Broncos. He enjoyed spending his free time playing video games, cooking, and being with his loved ones. A cherished tradition was the annual family campout in Council Grove.
He is remembered by his wife, Breonna, and their daughter, Liliana.
In the summer of 2023, shortly after celebrating his fifth wedding anniversary, Ian was visiting relatives in the small town of McCune, Kansas. On August 7, 2023, the family visit turned to tragedy when Ian was fatally shot at a residence.
Authorities investigating the shooting identified a suspect at the scene. The man taken into custody was Ian’s own grandfather.
Following the investigation, Ian's grandfather was charged with murder. He later pleaded guilty to killing his grandson. As of the last report on the case, he was scheduled to be sentenced in November 2023.
