On March 21, 2024, at approximately 1 p.m., Kansas City, Kansas, police responded to a call for medical assistance in the 200 block of Southwest Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered 49-year-old Lyle W. Garrett suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries the following day.
