On a cold morning in Kansas City, Kansas, the life of Charles W. "Chuck" Thompson, a 56-year-old Caucasian male, was brought to an abrupt and violent end. It was December 21, 1987, and the prominent lawyer and influential chairman of the Wyandotte County Democratic Party had arranged to meet a prospective client.
