On the afternoon of October 28, 2016, Marco Velazquez, a 47-year-old Hispanic male, was in the 200 block of South Valley Street in Kansas City, Kansas, when he was shot multiple times. Tragically, his 12-year-old daughter was with him at the time of the incident. Emergency services were called to the scene, and Velazquez was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Marco Velazquez succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead
later that day. His death marked the 36th homicide in Kansas City, Kansas, for that year. Velazquez was a resident of the city where his life was violently taken.
The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department opened an investigation into the shooting. Authorities publicly identified Velazquez as the victim in early November 2016 and appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for his death.
