On the evening of August 4, 2023, a shooting in west Shreveport tragically cut short the life of 20-year-old Breanna Hall. Just before 9:30 p.m., Shreveport Police were called to the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and San Jacinto Avenue following reports of the shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Hall with multiple gunshot wounds. She was quickly transported to Ochsner LSU Health Hospital, but she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
Investigators from the Violent Crimes
and Crime Scene Units were called to the scene, which had been secured by patrol officers. They began a thorough investigation, gathering statements from several witnesses and recovering video footage of the incident. Throughout the night, investigators received numerous tips and more witnesses came forward with information that proved crucial to the case.
Through this collaborative effort, authorities identified Steven D. Davis as the suspected shooter. Davis later surrendered to patrol officers and was taken to the Shreveport Police Complex for questioning. Following the interviews, Davis was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder, four counts of attempted second-degree murder, one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and one count of possession of a firearm in a firearm-free zone. He was subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
