In the late summer of 2023, a distressing event unfolded in a Shreveport, Louisiana neighborhood, culminating in the tragic death of 44-year-old Deborah T. Grice. The events that led to her untimely passing involved her husband, Nathan Grice, and concluded with a confrontation with law enforcement.
On the morning of Wednesday, August 30, 2023, deputies from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence on Ed's Boulevard, just off of Old Mooringsport Road, in response
to a reported disturbance. Upon their arrival, the situation escalated dramatically when deputies were met with gunfire from inside the home. The individual firing at the deputies was identified as 43-year-old Nathan Grice, Deborah's husband.
The deputies returned fire, and in the exchange, Nathan Grice was struck and killed. Once the scene was secured, law enforcement officers made a grim discovery inside the residence. They found the body of Deborah Grice. It was determined that she had died prior to the arrival of the deputies and the subsequent officer-involved shooting.
The Caddo Parish Coroner's Office later identified both individuals. Autopsies were ordered to determine the exact cause and manner of both deaths. The investigation pointed to Nathan Grice as the sole suspect in the death of his wife. As the suspect was killed at the scene, no arrests were made in connection with Deborah Grice's death. The case was investigated by the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office and the Louisiana State Police.
