Kali Lynch-Roberts was a funny, sweet, and supportive friend who was known as a bright light in many people's lives. A 29-year-old White woman, she was a passionate supporter of the heavy music scene in the Shreveport-Bossier area, where she was often the first person dancing and singing along to the lyrics. Kali also loved skateboarding and played in her own band.
In the early morning hours of Sunday, November 17, 2024, police in Shreveport, Louisiana, were dispatched to a shooting at a
residence in the 100 block of East Herndon Street in the Highland neighborhood. The call came in around 12:20 a.m. Inside the home, officers found Kali with a life-threatening gunshot wound. First responders immediately began performing CPR and attempting other medical assistance, but she was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:55 a.m. The Caddo Parish Coroner’s office confirmed her identity and ordered an autopsy, marking her death as the 47th homicide in the parish that year.
When police first arrived, they found Kali’s boyfriend, Lonnie Paul Troquille, in front of the residence. He told the officers that his girlfriend had been shot inside. Authorities detained Troquille at the scene and later arrested him, charging him with one count of second-degree murder.
Kali’s death was mourned deeply by her community. Friends organized a GoFundMe to help her family, and the local music scene she championed held a memorial show called "Kali Forever" at the end of November. Multiple bands performed at the event, which served as a benefit for Project Celebration, a nonprofit that provides resources to survivors of domestic abuse.
The case against Troquille, 42, moved forward in the following months. In February 2025, a Caddo Parish grand jury returned a formal indictment, charging Lonnie Paul Troquille with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Kali Lynch-Roberts.
