On a tragic evening in Shreveport, Louisiana, 21-year-old Jakeva Datcher, a female, lost her life in a violent shooting on December 27, 2024. The incident unfolded in the parking lot of an apartment complex located in the 5600 block of South Lakeshore Drive. It was there that she and her cousin, Tristavian Datcher, also 21, were met with a hail of bullets.
The cousins had arrived at the location, and as they were exiting their vehicle, shots were fired.
The attack was swift and brutal, leaving Jakeva with multiple gunshot wounds. She was later discovered deceased in the back seat of an SUV in the 3000 block of Curtis Lane and was officially pronounced dead at 10:36 PM. Her cousin, Tristavian, was found gravely wounded at the initial scene and rushed to Ochsner LSU Health hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away at 11:00 PM. Authorities believe the shooting was connected to a narcotics transaction that had gone fatally wrong.
The investigation into the double homicide led Shreveport police to a residence on West College Street the following morning. A search warrant was executed by a special response team, which resulted in the apprehension of three suspects. The individuals taken into custody were identified as 19-year-old Alissa Loreaunna Rogers, 21-year-old Deaiviantan Deshun Davis, and 21-year-old Rufus Odell Anderson.
In March 2025, a Caddo Parish Grand Jury returned true bills against all three suspects. They were each indicted on two counts of second-degree murder for their alleged roles in the deaths of Jakeva and Tristavian Datcher. Following their indictment, the three were incarcerated at the Caddo Correctional Center. Each is being held on a one-million-dollar bond for each charge as they await trial for the violent deaths of the two cousins.
