A domestic dispute at a Shreveport, Louisiana, mobile home on an October evening in 2022 escalated into a tragic double murder-suicide that claimed the lives of two young children. Ten-month-old female, Lillian Rose Marter, and her two-year-old brother, Ronnie Marter, were abducted by 25-year-old Anthony P. Smith following an altercation with the children's mother at the Huntington Mobile Home Park on Klug Pines Road.
Smith forced the children into a vehicle and drove to the nearby Bill Cockrell Metro Park.
At the park, Smith shot both Lillian and Ronnie before turning the gun on himself. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Smith deceased in a car with the infant, Lillian, who was also pronounced dead at the location. Ronnie was found in critical condition and immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment. Tragically, the young boy succumbed to his injuries and died the following day.
The incident was investigated as a double murder-suicide, with Anthony P. Smith as the sole suspect. The relationship between Smith and the children's mother was known to police, though the specific nature of their connection was not immediately made public. In the wake of the devastating loss, the children's grandmother, Brandy Moreno, created a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral expenses, expressing the family's profound grief over the abduction and murder of the two toddlers. A police spokesman described the violent crime against the young children as a particularly incomprehensible act of evil.
