On a tragic night in Shreveport, Louisiana, the life of 22-year-old Chasmine Walters was cut short. The young woman was fatally shot on June 9, 2019, following an altercation at the Royalty Lounge, a downtown nightclub located in the 200 block of Texas Street. Another individual, Lee'Jerryius Baines, aged 29, also lost his life in the violent exchange.
The incident unfolded when a dispute escalated into gunfire.
Trevarious Winslow, a 27-year-old security guard from Natchitoches who was on duty at the lounge that evening, became involved in the altercation. Evidence presented during the subsequent investigation showed that Winslow exchanged gunfire with a group of club patrons. In an attempt to conceal his involvement, he hid the firearm he used, which was later discovered covered in blood and bearing his DNA.
In the wake of the deadly shooting, an investigation led to the arrest of Trevarious Winslow. He was charged in connection with the deaths of Chasmine Walters and Lee'Jerryius Baines. Following the legal proceedings, a Caddo Parish jury deliberated on the evidence presented.
On January 12, 2023, the jury reached a unanimous verdict, finding Trevarious Winslow guilty of manslaughter for the deaths of both Walters and Baines. For these convictions, Winslow faced the possibility of a lengthy prison sentence, with up to 40 years of hard labor for each count.
