In the early morning hours of November 13, 2023, the life of 23-year-old Joseph Wilson, a male resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was tragically cut short. The incident unfolded around 5:15 a.m. on Geronimo Street, in the vicinity of the Ken-Warren Playground. It was the sound of gunfire, detected by shot spotter technology in the area, that first alerted the Baton Rouge Police Department to the unfolding violence.
Upon their arrival at the scene, which is situated between Interstate
110 and Plank Road, officers discovered Wilson unresponsive. He had sustained at least one gunshot wound. Emergency medical services were dispatched, and Wilson was quickly transported to a nearby hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
