On September 1, 2019, Jody Arcediano, a 36-year-old male, was discovered deceased inside a room at the Microtel Inn and Suites on Plaza Americana Drive in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Authorities had been called to the hotel around 11:15 a.m. regarding a shooting and found Arcediano with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. The investigation into his death was swiftly treated as a homicide.
Investigators determined that Arcediano had been the victim of a planned robbery that turned
fatal. According to police, two women, Brandy Verrett, 37, and Rachel Day, 29, both from Denham Springs, had orchestrated a scenario to lure Arcediano to the hotel. It is believed that their intention was to set him up to be robbed by a third individual.
The man authorities identified as the gunman was 40-year-old Peter Hinkle of Ethel. Verrett and Day were apprehended and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery. Following a tip, Peter Hinkle was also located and arrested, facing the same charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery for his alleged role in the shooting death of Jody Arcediano.
