In the late hours of a Monday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a verbal dispute tragically escalated, ending the life of 26-year-old Juan 'Doodie' Quiett on February 17, 2020. Quiett was in the parking lot of a strip mall located at 6224 Plank Road when he was fatally shot around 11:00 p.m.
The investigation into the shooting led to the arrests of two men. The first suspect, 24-year-old Tyus Markiece Thomas, was taken into custody on February 24, 2020.
Shortly after, on March 4, authorities arrested a second suspect, Karon Young, for his alleged involvement in the homicide. Thomas was subsequently booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a charge of second-degree murder.
According to police reports, four individuals, including Thomas and Young, were present at the time of the shooting. Authorities believe an argument between Thomas and Quiett preceded the gunfire. In a twist, Thomas claimed that Young was the one who fired the fatal shot. He even reenacted the shooting for detectives in an attempt to prove Young's culpability. However, forensic evidence suggested a more complex scenario. Ballistics analysis from the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab indicated that two different firearms were used in the shooting, pointing to the possibility of two shooters. Both Thomas and Young were arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
