On a quiet Sunday morning in Frankfort, Kentucky, just eight days before Christmas, the life of 47-year-old Bryan E. Biggs was tragically cut short. On December 17, 2023, Frankfort Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 100 block of Myrtle Avenue at 10:22 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Biggs with a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, but tragically succumbed to his injuries about an hour later.
The investigation into the shooting led to the
swift arrest of a suspect. Bobby Long, a 33-year-old resident of Frankfort, was taken into custody on the same day as the incident and charged with murder. Court documents revealed the grim detail that Biggs had been shot in the back of the head with a handgun. The shooting is reported to have occurred while Biggs was a passenger in a van driven by Long.
Following the initial investigation, Bobby L. Long was indicted on a murder charge by a Franklin Circuit Court grand jury in early January 2024. Long, who made the 911 call, allegedly confessed to the shooting. He has been held at the Franklin County Regional Jail. In a later development, Long's defense claimed that another individual in the vehicle was responsible for the shooting, a claim that was to be further investigated. The case continues to move through the court system, with a status hearing scheduled for September 2024.
