In the late summer of 2017, the community of Frankfort, Kentucky, was shaken by the violent death of a local man, Michael Shane 'Geese' Gaines. On the afternoon of Saturday, September 2, 2017, police responded to calls of shots fired at the Eastwood Garden Apartments on Forest Hill Drive. There, on a sidewalk between the parking lot and an apartment building, they discovered 39-year-old Gaines suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
