On a warm Labor Day evening, September 2, 2019, the festive atmosphere of a large cookout at East Frankfort Park in Kentucky was shattered by gunfire. Amidst the chaos that sent approximately 150 people running for cover, 25-year-old Anthony Lamarr Hendrix Jr., a Black male from Cincinnati, Ohio, was struck by multiple bullets.
