In the summer of 2023, a shooting on the near northeast side of Indianapolis claimed the life of 35-year-old Justin Lamont Burrell. A Black male, Burrell was fatally wounded on the evening of June 9, 2023. The incident unfolded shortly after 9 p.m. in the 2900 block of Station Street, near East 30th Street and North Sherman Drive.
