In the winter of 2021, a young man's life was tragically cut short in Indianapolis. Blake A. Coffman, a 20-year-old male, was killed on December 1, 2021. He was a lifelong resident of the city, a graduate of Warren Central High School who had found a path in the construction trade working for C & S Construction Co. Friends and family remember him as funny, competitive, and always up for a good time, someone who wore his heart on his sleeve.
On that fateful day, Coffman and another young
man, 21-year-old Andrew Jones, were found shot on the north side of Indianapolis. Both were in critical condition and were rushed to a nearby hospital, but their injuries proved to be fatal. Witnesses at the scene reported hearing 'three loud thumps' and seeing a man in a gray sweatsuit standing behind the victims' car.
The investigation into the double homicide led police to discover two cell phones at the crime scene, one of which belonged to Blake Coffman. A search warrant for the phone uncovered Instagram messages between Coffman and another user, arranging to meet at the location where the murders occurred. Investigators noted that the other Instagram account was deleted just hours after the killings. Through digital forensics, law enforcement was able to trace the now-deleted account to their suspect, Camran Perry.
In January of 2022, Camran Perry was taken into custody. Initially, he denied having any knowledge of Coffman and Jones. However, he later confessed to meeting them with the intention of making a purchase. Perry claimed that an argument broke out between them, which escalated to him fatally shooting both men. In July 2024, Camran Perry was found guilty on two counts of murder and for carrying a handgun without a license. He was subsequently sentenced to 110 years in prison for the deaths of Blake Coffman and Andrew Jones.
