In a grim turn of events on a Tuesday night in Indianapolis, a family dispute escalated to a fatal conclusion, leaving a father dead and his son facing accusations of his murder. Michael Wilson Sr., a 49-year-old male, was shot and killed inside his own kitchen on Edmondson Avenue on December 14, 2021. The tragic incident unfolded in a neighborhood near 42nd and Shadeland, where police responded to a report of a person shot. Upon their arrival, they discovered Michael Wilson Sr.
with a gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators quickly identified the alleged perpetrator as the victim's own son, 28-year-old Michael Wilson Jr. According to court records, the patricide was the culmination of an argument between the father and son. Following the shooting, Michael Wilson Jr. reportedly fled the scene. However, his attempt to evade capture was short-lived. At the time of the incident, he was already under police scrutiny for a prior alleged offense and was wearing a GPS ankle monitor. This electronic tether allowed law enforcement to track his whereabouts and apprehend him.
Michael Wilson Jr.'s history with the law added a troubling layer to the case. He had a prior conviction for neglect of a dependent, a case in which he was accused of burning and injuring a 6-month-old girl in 2015. Furthermore, at the time of his father's death, he was out on an eighty-thousand-dollar bond for another charge of neglect of a dependent, this time for allegedly abusing his girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter, who suffered a fractured skull. Following his arrest for the murder of his father, Michael Wilson Jr. was held at the Marion County Jail without bond.
