On July 20, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred in downtown Indianapolis, resulting in the death of 52-year-old Anthony Christopher Drummer. The incident took place near the intersection of Pennsylvania and Walnut streets, along the American Legion Mall. Police responded to a report of a person shot around 6:45 a.m. and found Drummer with a gunshot wound to the head. Despite immediate medical attention, Drummer was pronounced dead at the scene.
