Kia Tidwell, a 42-year-old mother of six, was fatally shot on Friday, September 6, 2024, in Gary, Indiana. The incident occurred as she was driving eastbound on 5th Avenue near a McDonald's at the intersection of Grant Street and 5th Avenue. Tidwell, who resided in Portage, Indiana, was on her way home after visiting her mother in Gary. She was on the phone with one of her children when she was struck by a stray bullet during a shooting that erupted near Lincoln Street.
