On Halloween night in 2023, 19-year-old Faybeann Ragsdale of Monroe, Georgia, was found deceased from a gunshot wound to the head inside a vehicle that had crashed. The incident unfolded around 7:50 p.m. near the entrance to a Home Depot in the Monroe Crossings Shopping Center. Initial 911 calls reported a vehicle crash, with a second caller reporting a shooting in the same area. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered Ragsdale inside an SUV that had rolled through a bank parking lot and collided with another car. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to a local hospital and later released.

The investigation quickly revealed that the events leading to Ragsdale's death were not accidental. Investigators determined that Ragsdale had been shot while driving the SUV. What initially appeared to be a drug transaction was, in fact, a premeditated robbery. Jagunte Jaylee Bass had contacted Ragsdale under the pretense that his 'bro' was interested in purchasing marijuana. The meeting was originally set for a nearby Walmart parking lot but was moved to the Home Depot due to a police presence at the first location.

Bass drove Kevin Yamil Rosa to the new location, where Rosa entered Ragsdale's SUV. Once inside, Rosa shot Ragsdale twice. The gunshots caused the SUV to accelerate uncontrollably, leading to the crash. Witnesses reported seeing Rosa flee from Ragsdale's vehicle and get into a car driven by Bass. Utilizing evidence from Ragsdale's cellphone, surveillance footage, and witness statements, investigators were able to identify both suspects.

Less than 24 hours after the shooting, Kevin Yamil Rosa, a 20-year-old convicted felon, was arrested in Conyers where he was found hiding in the backseat of a car. Authorities also recovered bloody clothing and a firearm hidden at a friend's mother's house. Jagunte Jaylee Bass was later apprehended in Coweta County. Cell phone records for both men revealed extensive planning to rob Ragsdale at gunpoint.

Both Kevin Yamil Rosa and Jagunte Jaylee Bass pleaded guilty to murder and other charges. Rosa, who fired the fatal shots, was sentenced to life in prison plus 25 years. Bass received a sentence of life in prison plus 15 years for his role in the setup and robbery that led to Faybeann Ragsdale's death.
