On a Thursday afternoon in Monroe, Georgia, the life of 24-year-old Uylesis Marvin Brown was tragically cut short. On June 22, 2017, police responded to a call of a gunshot wound on Wheel House Lane. Upon arrival, officers found Brown with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to Clearview Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
Within minutes of the shooting, law enforcement had a suspect in custody. Manual Lajun Hector, a 33-year-old from Monroe, was arrested at his residence on Mill Creek Way. The prompt arrest was the result of a swift response from the Monroe Police Department.
Following the investigation, Hector was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. The incident was described as an altercation that escalated to a fatal shooting.
