In the late hours of a Wednesday in Monroe, Georgia, the life of 37-year-old Terrence Gaither was brought to a tragic and abrupt end. On February 22, 2023, police responded to calls of shots fired in the vicinity of Green Street at approximately 11:23 p.m.. Upon their arrival, they discovered Gaither lying in a driveway, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Despite any efforts to render aid, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect. The City of Monroe Police Department identified 24-year-old De'erreist Laquez Crutchfield, also of Monroe, as the individual responsible for Gaither's death. Law enforcement officials issued warrants for his arrest, considering him to be armed and dangerous.
Within a short period, Crutchfield was taken into custody by the Monroe Police Department. He is facing a number of serious charges in connection with the incident, including murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and two counts of a convicted felon in possession of a weapon. Additionally, jail records indicate a charge of probation violation.
