On a quiet night in January 1995, Grant Patrick Hendrickson, a 22-year-old student at Mercer University, was with his 19-year-old girlfriend, Michele Cartagena, at a secluded spot known as 'the Point' overlooking Lake Juliette in Monroe County, Georgia. The couple was parked in Cartagena's car when another vehicle, a Honda CRX, pulled up nearby. The driver, Andrew Allen Cook, without any interaction or apparent motive, opened fire on their car from a distance of about forty feet.
