In the early morning hours of January 15, 2023, the sound of gunshots shattered the pre-dawn quiet in a Southeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood. When police arrived at the 3200 block of 15th Place, SE, they discovered a grim scene. Two men had been shot. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital, but for one of them, it was too late. Renando Griffin, a 34-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
