On a Sunday afternoon in Washington, D.C., the sound of gunshots shattered the peace in the unit block of Mississippi Avenue, Southeast. When officers from the Seventh District arrived at the scene around 4:34 p.m. on May 28, 2023, they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The man was identified as 26-year-old David Daniel Quarles of Southeast, D.C.
Emergency medical services responded to the call, but upon their arrival, they found no signs of life.
David Daniel Quarles was pronounced dead at the scene, his life tragically cut short by an act of violence. His body was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are actively investigating the shooting. As of now, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the case.
