On a Christmas afternoon in Washington, D.C., the festive spirit was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of a young man. Twenty-year-old Darryl O’Brien, a male resident of Southeast D.C., was discovered inside a vehicle in the 5700 block of East Capitol Street, Southeast, suffering from gunshot wounds. The incident occurred at approximately 2:02 p.m.
on December 25, 2018, casting a dark shadow over the holiday.
First responders rushed to the scene near Grant Park and transported O'Brien to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries two days later, on December 27th. The Metropolitan Police Department launched a homicide investigation into the fatal shooting, seeking to piece together the events that led to the tragic death of the young man.
