In the early morning hours of Saturday, March 27, 2021, the sounds of gunshots shattered the predawn quiet in the 1700 block of Gales Place, Northeast in Washington, D.C. Responding to reports of the gunfire at approximately 1:11 a.m., officers from the Fifth District of the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene to find a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was identified as 42-year-old Kermit Cain, Jr., a resident of Northeast, D.C. D.C.
Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel were dispatched to the location, but upon arrival, they found that Mr. Cain showed no signs of life. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Kermit Cain, Jr. was a male.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are actively investigating the shooting as a homicide.
