In the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 9, 2011, a tragedy unfolded in a Northeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood that cut short the life of a young man. Marcus Parham, a 26-year-old Black male, was inside a building on the 4500 block of Quarles Street, NE, when he was shot multiple times. The incident, which occurred at approximately 8:25 a.m., prompted a swift response from the Sixth District officers of the Metropolitan Police Department.
Upon their arrival, officers
discovered Parham suffering from grievous gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services personnel were quickly on the scene and transported him to a local hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life. Tragically, his injuries proved too severe, and he succumbed to them, being pronounced dead at the hospital. The cause of his death was officially ruled a homicide, launching an investigation by the detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch.
In the wake of the shooting, the police department issued a public appeal for assistance, urging anyone with information to come forward. A significant reward of up to $25,000 was offered for any information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Parham's murder.
