In the winter of 2010, a senseless act of violence cut short the life of 30-year-old James Ray Junior Pone in Washington, D.C. On the evening of Tuesday, December 21st, at approximately 9:00 pm, Pone was discovered in the 700 block of Brandywine Street, SE, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, but his injury proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
Originally from Whiteville, North Carolina, Pone was a graduate of Whiteville High
School. His death was a shock to his family and friends back in his hometown. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch opened an investigation into the fatal shooting. At the time, they appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for Pone's death.
