On March 27, 2024, at approximately 2:56 p.m., 41-year-old Philip Samuel Prendergast, known in the music community as "Phil Da Phuture," was fatally shot during an armed robbery at the Hotbox Uptown dispensary in the 5100 block of Georgia Avenue NW, Washington, D.C.
