On a cold Saturday evening in Washington, D.C., the life of 25-year-old Darnell Peoples was tragically cut short. On February 4, 2023, at approximately 7:17 pm, gunshots echoed through the 3600 block of 22nd Street in Southeast D.C. When officers from the Seventh District arrived at the scene, they discovered a grim sight: an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were quickly summoned, but despite their efforts, there were no signs of life.
Darnell Peoples, a resident of Southeast D.C., was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to officially determine the cause of death. The case was immediately classified as a homicide, prompting an investigation by detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch.
In the wake of the shooting, the Metropolitan Police Department has appealed to the public for assistance in gathering information that could lead to the apprehension of those responsible for Mr. Peoples' death. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in this tragic event.
