In the early hours of a Saturday morning in Washington, D.C., the life of Lawrence Alonzo Carter was tragically cut short. On August 15, 2015, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the sounds of gunshots echoed through the 1500 block of First Street, Northwest. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered Mr. Carter unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound to the torso. He was a 27-year-old, Black/African American male.
