On November 13, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred in Southeast Washington, D.C., resulting in the death of 24-year-old Jireh Emanuel Martinez. The incident took place in the evening when Seventh District officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1300 block of Valley Place. Upon arrival, the officers found Martinez with multiple gunshot injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
