In the early morning hours of Friday, November 1, 2024, the life of 28-year-old Dwaun Simpson was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in Northeast Washington, D.C. At approximately 3:54 a.m., officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Sixth District were dispatched to the 100 block of 44th Street, Northeast, following a report of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr.
Simpson, a resident of Southeast D.C., unconscious and not breathing, having sustained an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services were called to the scene, but despite their efforts, they could find no signs of life. Dwaun Simpson was pronounced dead at the location where he was found. The Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the incident as a homicide and is seeking assistance from the public to bring those responsible to justice.
