In the early morning hours of March 30, 2015, a tragedy unfolded in the Brightwood neighborhood of Northwest Washington, D.C., that cut short the life of 34-year-old Antonio Ayala. The Metropolitan Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation, appealing to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible. Their efforts bore fruit on April 7, 2015, when an arrest was made in connection with the fatal shooting. The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Ammaad Chase-El of Northwest, D.C.
