On a tragic Saturday night in Washington, D.C., the life of Blake Bozeman, a 31-year-old Black man, was cut short. The former Morgan State University basketball standout was at the CRU Hookah Lounge on H Street NE, celebrating a friend's birthday on September 23, 2023, when gunfire erupted just before midnight. In the chaos that ensued, Bozeman and three other individuals were struck by bullets from a lone gunman.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and transported all four victims to a local hospital. While the other three victims, two men and a woman, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Bozeman succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead. The senseless act of violence left a community in mourning and a family shattered by the loss of a devoted husband and father of three.

The Metropolitan Police Department has described the suspect as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, who was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt or, according to some accounts, a white or cream-colored sweater with a black hat. He was reportedly seen fleeing westbound on H Street NE after the shooting. A motive for the shooting has not been released to the public.

As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Blake Bozeman. A $25,000 reward is being offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this tragic event. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to seek justice for Bozeman and his grieving family.
