In the waning days of 2017, a young Black man named Dante Coleman, at the age of 20, was tragically killed in Washington, D.C. The male victim's life was cut short on December 29th in the hallway of an apartment building in the Washington Highlands neighborhood of Southeast D.C. This was a place he called home, living there with his one-year-old son and the child's mother. He was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds, a violent end to a life that had already been marked by profound loss.
