On a Tuesday afternoon, May 20, 2025, 31-year-old Kian-Wayne Magruder, a Black/African American male from Temple Hills, Maryland, was fatally shot in Northeast Washington, D.C. The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. in the 800 block of 26th Street NE, adjacent to the former Spingarn High School where an elementary school track and field championship was underway. Magruder was at the event to support his girlfriend's son.
