In the early hours of a Saturday morning, the sounds of what some residents initially mistook for fireworks echoed through the NoMa area of Northeast Washington, D.C. It was approximately 1:03 a.m. on August 3, 2024, and a burst of gunfire erupted in the unit block of M Street, Northeast. When the sounds faded, four people were left with gunshot wounds. The incident proved fatal for two of them.
One of the men who died at the scene was 33-year-old Antonio Williams of Capitol Heights, Maryland.
Metropolitan Police Department officers who were near the area and heard the gunshots were the first to respond to the chaotic scene. They discovered the four victims, and while a man and a woman were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, nothing could be done for Antonio Williams and the other deceased victim, 18-year-old Terrell Osbourne Jr., of Northwest, D.C. Both men were pronounced dead where they fell. The shooting was part of a notably violent night in the District, with other unrelated violent crimes occurring within a similar timeframe.
In the wake of the deadly shooting, the Metropolitan Police Department launched an investigation into the double homicide. Authorities have been seeking assistance from the public to piece together the events that led to the violence. As part of their investigation, they identified a vehicle of interest, a white 2019 Honda Accord, which was captured by a surveillance camera in the vicinity of the shooting.
As the investigation continues, no arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the murders of Antonio Williams and Terrell Osbourne Jr. The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a significant reward of up to $50,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this fatal shooting. The incident has left the local community with a sense of unease regarding the violence in their neighborhood, as they await answers and justice for the victims.
