In the early hours of a Saturday morning, the sounds of what some residents initially mistook for fireworks echoed through the NoMa area of Northeast Washington, D.C. It was approximately 1:03 a.m. on August 3, 2024, and a burst of gunfire erupted in the unit block of M Street, Northeast. When the sounds faded, four people were left with gunshot wounds. The incident proved fatal for two of them. One of the men who died at the scene was 33-year-old Antonio Williams of Capitol Heights, Maryland.
