In the early morning hours of November 30, 2023, the life of 37-year-old Alfredo Oscar Nunez was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence inside a Commerce City, Colorado, residence. Nunez, a Hispanic male from Thornton, was found deceased from a gunshot wound in a quadplex located in the 7300 block of Oneida Drive. The grim discovery was made later that day, not by law enforcement initially, but by a maintenance worker who had entered the unit to do some painting.
He found Nunez on the floor wrapped in a blanket and, believing him to be an unhoused person, kicked his foot to wake him. When Nunez didn't respond, the worker noticed blood and immediately called 911.
The investigation into the death of Alfredo Oscar Nunez, who was also known as 'Bola,' quickly revealed that the shooting had been witnessed by multiple people. These witnesses identified the suspect as 22-year-old Finn Clark Hoover. According to an arrest affidavit, Hoover had been 'squatting' in the vacant residence, which was undergoing renovations, with his girlfriend. Witnesses told police that Hoover shot Nunez for 'no reason' and then fled the scene with his girlfriend. Several other people who had been sleeping in the apartment also fled after hearing the gunshot.
Following the identification of Hoover as the primary suspect, a month-long search ensued. The Commerce City Police Department sought the public's help in locating him, noting a distinctive tattoo above his right eyebrow that read 'El Fin.' On December 27, 2023, Hoover turned himself in to the authorities. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder and eluding.
In May 2025, Finn Hoover pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of second-degree murder in Adams County District Court. As a result of his plea agreement, the charges of first-degree murder and vehicular eluding were dismissed. He was sentenced to 25 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections for the killing of Alfredo Nunez. The resolution of the case brought a measure of justice to a crime described by authorities as a 'senseless murder' of an innocent victim.
