In the early morning hours of May 8, 2020, a neighbor discovered the body of 67-year-old Larry 'Eddie' Gomez inside his Commerce City, Colorado, home. The discovery, made around 5:30 a.m. in the 7000 block of Garden Lane, prompted a call to authorities. When officers from the Commerce City Police Department arrived, they found Gomez deceased and noted that the circumstances surrounding his death appeared suspicious.
The investigation that followed led to the arrests of two men,
29-year-old Kyle Schneider and 41-year-old David Jacobs. Both men were taken into custody and held at the Adams County Detention Facility. The Adams County District Attorney's Office later officially charged Schneider and Jacobs with first-degree murder after deliberation, as well as three counts of attempted first-degree murder with extreme indifference. It was later revealed that Gomez had died from a gunshot wound.
Larry Eddie Gomez was born in Denver on August 20, 1952. He was a longtime employee of Fiscus Steel, where he worked for twenty-six years. He was a devoted family man, having been married to his late wife, Maria Julia Gomez, for 42 years before her passing. He was a father and grandfather, known by friends and family as a good-hearted man who was always willing to help others.
