On March 4, 2024, at approximately 9:52 p.m., the sounds of gunfire shattered the quiet of a residence in the 1800 block of Grand Avenue. First responders arrived at the scene to find the young junior from Mid City High School with a gunshot wound.
She was quickly transported to a local hospital, but her injuries proved to be fatal.
De'Zia was a young woman with aspirations of becoming a traveling nurse, a goal that filled her parents with pride. She was part of a large and loving family and was known for her enjoyment of music, creating TikTok videos, and spending cherished moments with her best friends. Her sudden and violent death sent ripples of grief through her family and the wider Davenport community.
