On a Sunday evening in Davenport, Iowa, the life of 29-year-old Eloise Chairs, a Black / African American female, was tragically cut short inside a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant. The date was October 25, 2020, and what began as a family outing ended in a fatal shooting that unfolded in front of her own children. Chairs, a mother of five, including a newborn just four weeks old, was at the popular family entertainment venue when an argument erupted.
The dispute reportedly began over a
child's game card. Family members stated that another child had taken her son's card, leading to a confrontation between Chairs and the other child's mother. As the argument escalated, a friend of the other mother, identified as 24-year-old Treshonda M. Pollion, allegedly intervened. It was at this point that a handgun was produced. Pollion is reported to have shot Chairs in the shoulder. The bullet struck a major artery, and despite receiving immediate medical attention at the scene and being rushed to a nearby hospital, Chairs succumbed to her injuries.
In the aftermath of the shooting, Treshonda M. Pollion fled the scene. However, she was apprehended the following day and subsequently charged with first-degree murder. Authorities located and arrested her in Rock Island County, and she was later extradited to Scott County, Iowa. Pollion was held without bail. In a later court proceeding, she accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter. Friends and family remembered Eloise Chairs as a loving and devoted mother who always put her children first. Originally from Chicago, she had moved to the area to be with her children and was described as a charismatic, smart, and caring individual who was always willing to help others.
